Cabinet in Belle Chasse, LA

Belle Chasse is an unincorporated community and census-designated place of 10,579 people on the west bank of the Mississippi, the largest community in Plaquemines Parish and the current home of the parish courthouse.

The name means beautiful hunting in French, usually explained by the wildlife the first colonists found here, though some attribute it to the Spanish administrator Joseph Deville Degoutin Bellechasse, who lived here from 1806 to 1814. The Belle Chasse plantation was later owned by the Confederate statesman Judah P.

Benjamin; the house decayed and was demolished in 1960, and its bell now stands in front of the public library.

Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base New Orleans, at Alvin Callender Field, moved here in 1957 and hosts the 159th Fighter Wing of the Louisiana Air National Guard and Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans; it was the main helicopter staging area during the 2005 hurricane response.

The Belle Chasse Tunnel, built under a branch of the Intracoastal Canal and opened in February 1956, was reported at the time to be the first fully automatic underwater tunnel in the world.

Two things make Belle Chasse distinctive for our trade. The first is the base, which means households that rotate every few years and want cabinetry that works immediately rather than a project spread over eighteen months, plus a steady demand for commercial and institutional casework in the businesses and offices along Highway 23.

Those jobs get built to AWI standards in high-pressure laminate with 3mm PVC edge banding and institutional-grade hardware, with a compliant lowered transaction section wherever there is a counter the public uses. The second is elevation.

A great many houses out here are raised, some substantially, and that changes what belongs where: storage under the house or in a detached garage gets built in moisture-resistant plywood or powder-coated steel and hung on a lagged ledger well off the ground, with corrosion-resistant hinges and slides because the air this far down the river is unkind to cheap plating.

Anything you would be sorry to lose goes above the historic waterline. We say so early, because it is the sort of advice that only sounds pessimistic until the first bad season.

Cabinet work we do in Belle Chasse, LA

New Orleans Elite Cabinets covers the same range of work in Belle Chasse that we do in New Orleans — nothing is carved out because the address is a few miles up the road:

  • Home Office & Built-InsHome office and built-in cabinetry is what turns an awkward spare bedroom, a dead corner, or a blank parlor wall into the part of the house people comment on. Built-ins are a different product from furniture pushed against a wall: they use the full depth and height available, scribe tight to the plaster, and lose the dust gap and the wobble.
  • Entertainment Centers & Media WallsEntertainment centers and media walls are the built-in most likely to be designed around a television that will be replaced in four years, which is the one mistake worth planning against. We build media walls that hide the equipment, handle the heat and cabling properly, and are dimensioned so the next screen still fits without a rebuild.
  • Laundry Room CabinetsLaundry room cabinets are the fastest and cheapest room in the house to fix, and most laundry rooms around here are one wire shelf away from being a genuinely good workspace. We build laundry cabinetry with a folding counter, real detergent storage, somewhere to hang things, and hampers that live inside the casework instead of on the floor.
  • Pantry SystemsPantry systems decide whether a kitchen gains or loses about a third of its practical capacity, and most builder pantries are deep fixed shelves where groceries go to be forgotten. We design pantry storage around one principle: if you cannot see it without moving something else, you do not really own it.
  • Cabinet Refacing, Refinishing & PaintingCabinet refacing, refinishing, and painting are three routes to the same destination, and which one suits your kitchen depends on the condition of the boxes rather than on how tired the doors look. We assess the carcasses first and tell you honestly which route makes sense, including the times when the answer is none of them.
  • Cabinet Hardware & OrganizersCabinet hardware and interior organizers are the cheapest upgrade in a kitchen and the one that changes daily life the most, which is a strange pairing most people only discover after spending thirty thousand dollars on the cabinets themselves. We install and retrofit hardware and organizers across Greater New Orleans, including on cabinetry we did not build.

About Belle Chasse, LA — and why local matters here

Belle Chasse sits in Plaquemines Parish with a population of roughly 10,579, close enough to New Orleans that crews move between the two constantly. Local landmarks and corridors residents know well include Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base New Orleans, the Belle Chasse Tunnel, Louisiana Highway 23.

Local knowledge is not a marketing line here. Belle Chasse properties share soil, weather, permit rules and construction eras with the rest of Plaquemines Parish, and a cabinet contractor who works the area weekly already knows what fails locally and what holds up. That is the difference between a bid and an accurate bid.
